“Significant relationships occur best in the context of a small group. Connecting people in a small group is not an optional sub-ministry of the church – it is the church in its smallest unit. Without this connection people can, at best, attend meetings, but they aren’t truly participating in church. A small group of believers who love one another with God’s love will experience the life Christ promised at the deepest level possible” Bill Donahue, Willow Creek.
For us, the small group ministry is one of the most important ministries in the church. We place great importance for every member to be connected to a small group in some way.
From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and build itself up in love, as each part does it’s work. Ephesians 4:16
Small groups are places for joining. Research into organisations indicates that fully joining a new organisation takes between one and two years and that the effectiveness of the join, graft and integration depends on the quality of the joining process. Church is no exception.
They are places for holding. Finding new people and keeping them are two different issues. People are held easier in small groups.
They are places for growing. Small groups are the place where new gifts can flourish.
They are the place for building. Everybody can arrive at the group tired but leave stronger through the interaction of the members.
They are a place for loving. The place where a person can truly feel cared for.
